October 2 – Tour Paramedic Ride Ontario
Many SEIU Healthcare paramedics participated in the Tour Paramedic Ride Ontario. They rode along Lake St-Clair, Lake Huron and Georgian Bay! In the process, they raised money for many important causes, including PTSD retreats.
“As a proud member of SEIU Healthcare and co-chair of the Emergency Medical Services Section 21 Committee, we are proud of the work that we do. The paramedics of Ontario, through their unions – SEIU, CUPE, Unifor and OPSEU/SEFPO – have lobbied for full health and safety committee status and we welcome Minister McNaughton’s support. We look forward to continuing the relationships we have built as we work together to improve health and safety standards for paramedics.”

This fall, we were proud to premiere our 60-minute documentary They Called Us Heroes.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we interviewed and documented stories from SEIU Healthcare members on the frontlines. They Called Us Heroes was created to tell your stories. Frontline healthcare workers put their own lives at risk to care for others and, in return, experienced injustice from Premier Doug Ford’s government and for-profit healthcare employers.
We hosted a screening with SEIU Healthcare members and their families so they could be among the first to see it. Several Liberal and NDP MPPs attended so they could learn from your stories. We asked them to commit to keep fighting for you and the issues you face every day.
