Save Hospital Care

As part of ongoing efforts to bargain better outcomes for patient care and hospital staff, healthcare unions launched television ads aimed at the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA).

CUPE, SEIU Healthcare and Unifor represent 95,000 registered practical nurses, personal support workers, cleaners, administrative staff and others on the frontlines at hospitals across Ontario and have focused contract negotiations with the OHA on bargaining a better outcome for patients, staff and care.

We launched a province-wide television advertising blitz to fix the mess and save hospital care in Ontario. The two ads were titled Patient SOS and Bloody Mess.

SEIU Votes

Months before the Provincial Election, we launched a campaign to help members understand how important the election was on June 2, 2022. We encouraged members to commit to voting, make a plan to vote and bring their family and friends to vote.

In April, members attended virtual Leadership Academy sessions where they learned how to understand politics, how politics affects their daily lives and how they could make a difference in upcoming provincial elections.

We also delivered hundreds of lawn signs across Ontario that said, “I’m voting for HEALTHCARE”.

One month before the election, our President, Sharleen Stewart, shared an important message:

HEALTHCARE WORKERS HAD CANADA’S BACK, SO WE ASKED CANADA TO HAVE OURS

We asked the public to join SEIU Healthcare members to tell our elected officials in Ottawa that it’s time they care to act.

Healthcare workers had Canada’s back, so we asked Canada to have ours. We asked the public to join SEIU Healthcare members to tell our elected officials in Ottawa that it’s time they care to act.

The letters went to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, among others, because we need them to help protect your jobs from anti-worker premiers like Doug Ford. We’re fighting for good healthcare jobs, safe staffing levels, better care outcomes and more.

Hospital Holiday Message

In November 2022, Bill 124 was ruled unconstitutional and void, and rather than Premier Doug Ford’s government correcting his mistakes and investing in all healthcare workers, they announced that they wanted to appeal the Superior Court’s decision. Wasting your tax dollars and further disrespecting you by appealing the decision.

The Ford Government continues to attack public healthcare workers, and the Ontario Hospital Association fails to recognize their struggles and offer a helping hand. So we turned to the Central Hospital’s Board of Directors.

We launched our Hospital Holiday Message campaign, where hospital workers shared a message with their hospital board and the government. They explained why Bill 124 and other workplace issues affect them and their loved ones, especially during the holiday season.
