One Goal. One Team. One Vision.
SEIU Healthcare is the only service union with a dedicated Nursing Division. The Nursing Division has a president, a constitution, holds a convention and has a professional practice liaison staff. We proudly represent over 8,500 nurses, which includes registered practice nurses (RPNs), registered nurses (RNs) and nurse practitioners (NPs).
The Nursing Division’s mission is to advocate for their fellow nurses in Ontario regarding professional practices, the scope of practice and standards for the delivery of care by nurses.

2022 Nursing Division Highlights
February 14 – Our Retention Bonus Letter to Ford Government
Our union, along with the largest healthcare unions in Ontario, wrote to Premier Doug Ford to address the problems surrounding the $5,000 nursing retention bonuses.
We reminded Ford that just like pandemic pay, the nursing retention bonus does not fix the human resource crisis in healthcare. The unions invited Ford to meet to discuss essential solutions that will make a difference in our healthcare system, but those calls went unanswered and ignored.
May 7 – Laughter from the Frontlines Comedy Show
To start the 2022 Nursing Week, our Nursing Division organized a fun and entertaining night to kick back and laugh. The Unknown Comedy Club hosted our Laughter from the Frontline Comedy Show on Facebook Live.
If you missed the show, you can watch it on our Facebook Page.

May 16 – Nursing Action Assembly
Over 150 nurse leaders took action during our historic Nursing Action Assembly to finish Nursing Week 2022. We had meaningful conversations about how to stand up for the respect and protection nurses deserve in the workplace and educational sessions on building connections with fellow nurses when having honest member-to-member conversations.
We finished the day with an energetic march down Yonge Street to confront party leaders before they entered the final Leader’s Debate of the 2022 Ontario provincial election. We were the only union to show up. There were many statements about Doug Ford’s poor treatment of healthcare workers, and we influenced party leaders to discuss issues like Bill 124 and mental health support.
November 21-22 – Nursing Convention
On November 22, 2022, over 150 SEIU Healthcare nurse delegates from across Ontario met at the 2022 Nursing Division Convention to discuss the nursing profession, participate in education and plan for how to create changes in healthcare and politics.
Delegates had the opportunity to improve their ability and confidence in advocating for healthcare, vote on resolutions, and elect the new Nursing Division Executive Board.

Making WLRF More Accessible on the App
For many workplaces, you can now complete Workload Review Forms on the SEIU Healthcare mobile app.
Watch our guide on where to find WLRFs in the SEIU Healthcare mobile app.
If you don’t have it, download the app to fill out a WLRF quicker and easier.
“The Workload Review Forms are an essential resource that protects an employee from an unsafe situation that is out of their control. Documenting and reporting to the union and employer allows the union to bargain and push for more floor resources and safer conditions. Don’t let your employer continue to make your work in an unsafe environment, document it and empower your colleagues to improve your working conditions. SEIU has made accessing WLRF easier by adding them on our mobile app!”
